What are minerals?
Minerals are elements—the very same elements on the periodic table inside a high school chemistry book like chromium, magnesium, iron, zinc, and so on. They are the elements that comprise the entire universe, this earth, and everything on it, including you.
Your body is fearfully & wonderfully formed from these same elements. It is important to constantly replenish your body with the elements it uses every day.
You have amazing chemical and electrical processes happening in your body every single moment. These reactions can only function if your balance of minerals is continually being supplied to your system. Iron for your blood, sulfur for your muscles, calcium for your bones, and so many other elements in balanced trace amounts for your body to function properly.

What does ionic mean?
An ion is a mineral or element that has a positive or negative charge. On the molecular level, that means the element has either too many or too few electrons. This unstable ionic state allows the element to bond with water, making it possible for the body to absorb it. In this state, an element has specific positive or negative electrical signatures that cause a beautiful balance. The body can then facilitate changes to move nutrients to the areas that need them.

What Are Trace Minerals & WHY are they missing?

Magnesium:
According to the National Institutes of Health, magnesium is crucial for every cell in your body. In other words, magnesium supports hundreds of chemical reactions or processes in your body, including regulating muscle and nerve function, and blood sugar levels, as well as making protein, bone, and DNA.

The good news is that the RDA is only 310 – 420 mg a day. The mineral is found in abundance in vegetables, especially dark leafy greens like spinach, kale, and collard greens. Another great source is whole grains and beans.

Understand, it is all about the balance. Let’s take lithium for example. Lithium is found in cereals, potatoes, tomatoes, cabbage, lemons, apples, and many other foods. It is a trace element that our brain loves.
In trace amounts it is calming to the mind & neuroprotective.
Lithium shields neurons from biological stress and toxins.
Neurogenesis: Lithium enhances the growth of new neurons, leading to an increased number of neurons and brain volume.
Lithium is also a prescription drug that is used in very high doses to treat mania which is part of bipolar disorder. Understand that the tiny, tiny amount you would get in Mineral Essence would NEVER replace a prescription. I only share that information, so you understand that we don’t remove any of the trace minerals. Each one in its natural state balances another one or flips a switch if that helps.
The same thing happens when people see the word fluoride in the 72 trace minerals & think NOPE, not me. Last thing in the bottle: Sodium
I want to cover this for those of you on a salt restriction. Please note that although Mineral Essence has a salty flavor, it only contains 10mg of sodium.
Salt or Sodium It’s a common misconception that "sodium" and "salt" are the same thing; in fact, the words are often used interchangeably. However, understanding the difference between the two could affect how you manage the nutritional quality of your diet.
"Salt" refers to the crystal-like chemical compound sodium chloride, while "sodium" refers to the dietary mineral sodium.
Table salt is a combination of the mineral elements sodium and chloride. Broken down by weight, sodium only makes up approximately 40% of table salt. It is bleached and has all the minerals removed so they can sell them individually. ZERO balance.

The function of Sodium
The role of sodium in overall health is to help cells and organs function properly by regulating blood pressure, supporting muscular contraction, and keeping nerve impulses running smoothly.
It’s one of the electrolytes responsible for maintaining healthy fluid balance in the body & keeps your healthy heart beating.
Too much or too little sodium can cause some of those bodily processes to malfunction. If sodium levels get too high, the body will signal the kidneys to get rid of the excess. If levels dip too low, you may show signs of a condition called hyponatremia which is low levels of sodium in the blood. Symptoms are similar to those caused by dehydration, which affects many systems including your brain. Symptoms may include mental changes, tiredness, headache, nausea, vomiting, muscle spasms, and seizures severe cases, loss of consciousness.
Even though sodium is essential for keeping your body functioning the body does not produce its own—it is only acquired from food. Celery and beets are two vegetables with high sodium content. One beet serving can have up to 65 mg of sodium, a large celery stalk can contain up to 70 mg of sodium and 100 gm of spinach can have up to 80 mg of sodium. Other sodium-rich vegetables are carrots, radishes, cauliflower, broccoli, and cabbage.
Guidelines for Americans recommend adults limit sodium intake to less than 2,300 mg per day—that's equal to ONLY about 1 teaspoon of table salt. How many whole foods would you need to eat to achieve that 2.300mg of sodium?? How about processed foods?? Understand that sodium is necessary to life, it is all about quality and quantity.

So, with the soil depleted, what can you do to stay strong & healthy??
Start with whole foods.
Make sure you’re getting enough minerals in your diet.
Eat local & organic when you can.
Choose less processed foods.
Use Celtic Sea Salt.

Shake well & refrigerate after opening.
Take 5 half-droppers (1 ml each) twice a day or as needed as a mineral supplement.
You can even rub it on topically or add it to bath water or lotions. YES, your skin will absorb some of the minerals, but internal gives you maximum absorption.
